Recruiting Report: Beau Bailey (2018)
When interviewed about his senior wing Beau Bailey, new Lakeville South head coach Joe Janquart quickly used a word that so many would agree on for Beau: upside.
“Beau is a player who is just starting to really come into his own,” Janquart told NHR. “His upside is through the roof. Beau’s combination of athleticism, length, and ability to get the basket are his strong suits.
“He is continuing to develop consistency from the outside and is ready to make the commitment to be one of the premier South Suburban defenders.”
Standing about 6-3 or 6-4, the bouncy senior is taking a laid-back approach to his college search.
“I haven’t done any tours, but I’ve been talking to Augsburg, St. John’s and schools like that,” Bailey said. “I’m laid back, I’ll wait things out. Looking for mostly good academics and cost. I can leave home, I’ll be fine. I’m just looking for good academics.”
Bailey also mentioned junior college as an option, and said that North Dakota D1 juco Lake Region has been in contact.
With a new, proven coach and plenty of returning talent (including D1-committed forward Shae Mitchell), Beau is banking on a nice season for Lakeville South.
“I’m just working out, getting ready for basketball season,” Bailey said. “I have talked to (coach Janquart) a lot, we have open gyms all the time. We’re talking about the season and what’s coming up. He’s a good guy, all about defense, and he knows the game a lot.”
