Recruiting Report: Armaan Franklin (2019)
When looking at the 2019 class as a whole, the overall depth at each level is what is most impressive. The top of the class isn’t as deep as some of the others but there are a few guys that are working their way up the ladder. The prospect that probably made the biggest jump this year is Cathedral (IN) guard Armaan Franklin.
Franklin, a 6’3 scoring guard, really took off with UA Grind 2019 this year. He really improved athletically and with his ball handling. Those two aspects allowed him to bring a ton more offense to his game. He was great at creating into the mid-range and at the rim.
The area that is next in his development is his jump shot. It has come a long way but will still need a little more work. That area will really round out his offensive skill set. However, he’s quickly becoming the type of defender that could impact the game. For Franklin, it has been that is driving his development.
“I started applying what I learned in training and it just opened everything else up,” Armaan said. “Also, improving my (handles) just helped me get to the basket more.”
As for his recruitment, Franklin is starting to pick up some steam. During his run this summer, you saw a wide variety of DI programs take notice. Now, that lower level interest has solidified into offers and now this mid and high-major programs are taking a long look at him.
IUPUI, Morehead State, Evansville, and Miami (OH) have already offered the rising junior. However, schools like UNLV, Michigan, Xavier, and Dayton are some new schools in the mix. Franklin said he has already taken visits to Michigan, Xavier, and Miami (OH).
Franklin has transferred back to Cathedral (IN) after spending one season at Fishers (IN) this past year. He joins a loaded group of talent that could become one of the most likely contenders for the 4A State Championship.
