There are certain players in Michigan that are in the ‘must see’ category. This status isn’t just for fans of the school or fans of the game either. ‘Must see’ applies for coaches at the next level as well. Drew Knickerbocker is a ‘must see’ player.
Knickerbocker is a 6-6 wing who attends Lapeer High School in the Saginaw Valley League. The senior can flat out shoot the ball. Not only can he shoot, but he is not limited by range. Don’t be fooled by his reputation as a shooter though: Drew Knickerbocker is a versatile player who is still expanding his game. He’s very good on the glass on both ends of the floor. He is also a very valuable energy and motor type player. Knickerbocker will surprise people this year with his improved athleticism and horizontal movement.
Drew Knickerbocker is relentless in his work improve as a basketball player. This summer he matched up with top notch competition while playing for the Grand Rapids Storm. He could always be found in the gym working to become a more complete player. When high school season arrives he looks forward to playing against Flint Carman Ainsworth and wants his team to make noise in the Saginaw Valley League.
Drew Knickerbocker has a lot to offer a college basketball program. In today’s game, everyone needs a shooter. Knickerbocker is not just a shooter, he’s a shooter with size. Off the court, a team at the next level will be getting a great student. Knickerbocker understands the demands placed on a college student-athlete, but also appreciates the opportunities it presents.
Knickerbocker has received an offer from Siena Heights. Some NAIA and GLIAC schools have also been expressing interest. As the 2017-2018 season plays out more offers will be on the table from Division 3, NAIA, and Division 2 schools. Fans and coaches should be sure to see Drew Knickerbocker play this season.
