Prospect Spotlight: Marcus Collins (2020)
Collins will bring some toughness and skill to West Seattle, and defined his playing style as well as what he’ll be looking to improve as he heads into the winter.
A skilled guard who has great court vision along with a quick first step and the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He is quick in transition and has the ability to get by defenders and distribute the basketball to his teammates.
No one displays better leadership on the floor than the guard from West Seattle. Coaches love his constant talk and communication on the court. He is always the one getting teammates into the right spot so that West Seattle’ offense can operate effectively. As his shooting and ball handling have improved, Collins has climbed up our ranking list. A quality student with a 3.0+ gpa, he should be on the priority list for high academic schools.
“My strengths are that I can see the floor, I’m a good point guard; I can shoot, I can pass, I can do a lot of things. I have a lot of toughness and I play hard and everything. I love to pass first and get my teammates easy buckets before I do,” said Collins, who played up a grade with 16U Elite Sports Academy this offseason.
“I’m looking to improve on my strength, size-wise. I noticed when I was playing up with the 16U that I was a little undersized, so I need to get a bigger upper body. And defensive-wise, I need to work on that, and my athletic ability.”
