Prospect Spotlight: Luc Krystkowiak (2019)
Though he’s had nagging injuries hold him back during the past year, Brighton guard — and Utah’s 30th-ranked 2019 — Luk Krystkowiak is eager to get healthy again, and get his recruitment back on track.
The 6-foot-2 guard is having some knee issues, tendinitis, and it kept him out for his 16U summer. As a result, his recruitment has been a bit stagnant.
“I haven’t been able to talk to any schools. If I would have played this summer I would have, but it was hard with the injury,” said Krystkowiak. “I definitely want to start talking to some schools. I feel like if I work hard it will happen.”
He added: “Hopefully when I get back, I can pick up some offers and maybe do some things that make me blow up, and whatever happens will happen.”
Krystkowiak says he’s possibly a month out from playing again, and his main focus right now is getting healthy.
“It got to the point where I could barely walk, so I’m just focused on getting my knees right and getting ready for the season. I’m hoping I’m 100 percent for the season , but I don’t know yet,” said Krystkowiak
“My focus right now is just to get healthy, it’s been a struggle.”
When he is at full strength, Krystkowiak is one of Utah’s best guards, and mentioned his playing style as an aggressive playmaker.
“My strengths are definitely getting to the rim and attacking an penetrating, and opening up the court for other players. I like blocking shots defensively,” said Krystkowiak
“I want to work on distributing better this year. It’s important that I get my assist numbers up from last year, so that’s my goal for this season.”
When he is back, and ready to make an impact again with Brighton, Krystkowiak says the goal is to be dynamic.
“I’m definitely going to focus on being more of a threat,” said Krystkowiak. “I’m going to be more aggressive.”
