Prospect Spotlight: Louis Tang (2019)
Louis Tang, a 6-foot-4 wing from Taiwan, is a welcomed addition to a new-look St. Mary’s Ryken Team led by their new Head Coach Walter Booth. The junior, who says he’s been playing basketball for five years, is entering his second full season in the United States.
“I know how to space the floor, and I’m a good cutter,” Said Tang of his overall game. “I play point or shooting guard. I’m a good passer.”
Tang has gained roughly 15 pounds since his arrival in the US, and currently tilts the scales at 185 pounds. He mentioned that his goal is to add more weight in anticipation of the season, which should require physical play.
“Physical play is the most improved part of my game,” Tang explained. “I’m from Taiwan, so the basketball style is a little bit different from America, so I think my physical play is getting better.”
An underrated defender, Tang works hard on both ends of the floor. He is a decent shooter, and is continuing to work on the consistency of his three point shot.
“My goals are to gain 200 pounds before season start, and to help my team to win a championship,” Tang stated. “I am thinking about to studying sports management in college.”
What can Tang bring to a college program?
“I can bring my work ethic. I work hard, english is my second language, and I learned English in one year.”
