Prospect Spotlight: Jacob Dahlstrom (2019)
Jacob Dahlstrom (6’7) – Eastside Catholic
Dahlstrom is solid post player, which much more room for growth. He is improving each day and becoming a better post player by the high level competition in the metro league. He will have a much bigger impact for the crusaders next season, but this season is all about growth and development for Dahlstrom.
He has a nice post presence, blocking shots and holding down the paint. He gives the extra effort, doing everything his team needs to win games. He can knock down shots and finish at the rim. Dahlstrom can improve on becoming a stronger post player and adding more post moves to his game, but he has a very high ceiling.
With a extreme work ethic, playing at a high level on both ends of the floor. Dahlstrom can also play a little bit of the stretch 4 position, which allows him to score in different ways. He’s hunts down rebounds and can battle with the best for boards. Dahlstrom should have a nice summer AAU circuit and his game should continue to grow.
He’s very raw at this point, but if you’re a college program looking for a project type of player, then he could be the guy you may want to add this late in the summer. He showed flashes of how good he can be throughout and will only get better if he continues to be coached and in the right program. He rebounded the ball and blocked shots well, does a good job of defending inside the post and making things difficult for opposing bigs. Would fall into the category of what we would call a junkyard dog, he doesn’t care mind doing the dirty work at all.
