Prospect Spotlight: Chris Conway (2019)
The city of Benton Harbor has always had a reputation for producing quality basketball players. From Anthony Miller to Wilson Chandler, many stars have been native to the city. Chris Conway may be able to add his name to that list someday. The junior small forward plays at Benton Harbor High School.
Chris Conway is a 6-6 athlete. He’s smooth and can play above the rim. Dunking is definitely a strength in his game. In fact, one of the highlights of high school basketball for him so far was when he had 5 dunks in the first game of last season. Conway is strong defensively and able to guard multiple positions. He can also hit teammates with a strong and accurate pass. He is working to continue improving his jump shot in order to expand his game.
In the spring and summer, Chris Conway played AAU basketball with OWE Hoops and summer league with his Benton Harbor team. In summer league they stressed team chemistry. He has prepared himself for next season and the high expectations at Benton Harbor. “Next season I’m hoping to be a skilled basketball player and to be confident in my shot. As a team I’d like to help take my school as far as possible,” said Conway.
Chris Conway is as impressive off the court as he is on it. He focuses on school and plans to maintain high grades. Conway also excels in football and track and he hopes to take sports as far as he can. He is motivated by the thought of being successful and setting up a future for himself. Conway looks forward to college both for athletics and academics, and anticipates majoring in chemistry.
Chris Conway is just starting the recruiting process. As college coaches start to see this 6-6 athletic small forward play, interest and offers should follow. He is a must see player on the west side of the state.
