Prospect Spotlight: Carter Pline (2020)
An up-and-comer from Michigan’s 2020 class, 6-foot-5 small forward Carson Pline is a forward with some good size who will be on coach’s radars before too long.
The Fowler sophomore’s recruitment hasn’t started up just yet, but with his existing skill-set and a desire to improve, it’s just a matter of time.
“I think one of my best strengths would be driving and finishing at the basket. And then defensive energy, just making the hustle plays and making the other plays that other guys might now be able to do,” said Pline.
This spring and summer he was playing with Elite Nation 16U and Greenwood Elite 15U during the spring. During the summer, he didn’t play grassroots ball, but instead worked out on his own.
“I really started working on my outside jump-shot, my 3-point shooting and my off-the-dribble jumper. Last year, I missed more big shots than I made, and I didn’t want to the same thing to happen this year,” said Pline.
“I want to be able to get to the basket, and then have the defender respect my jump-shot as well.”
With his sophomore season just weeks away, Pline mentioned to PHMI what his role might be with the Eagles this season.
“Last year, I was playing small forward and that took a little adjustment at first, because I had played more power forward all through middle school,” said Pline.
“This year, we lost one of our players to Saginaw State, and we’re not near as tall, so I’ll have to step up and take on more of a scoring role and leadership role.”
