Prospect Spotlight: Andrel Anthony Jr. (2021)
Andrel Anthony Jr. has star potential. The freshman has elite level skills and a confidence to go with them. He is a 6-2 combo guard from East Lansing High School.
Andrel Anthony Jr. is a scorer at heart. He has the ability to get red hot from the outside and has the potential to have limitless range. He can also attack the basket, which keeps defenders honest. He can handle the ball as well, which allows Anthony Jr. to play either guard spot.
Andrel Anthony Jr. is eagerly anticipating his freshman season. He is playing football right now, and has used it as a way to prepare for basketball season. “I’m currently on the high school football team which has helped me stay in shape,” said Anthony Jr. He has done skill and strength training with Coach Marcus Lancaster from UTS Inc, and worked on ball handling with Coach Randy Simon from Pound to Pound.
Even as a freshman, Andrel Anthony Jr. has clear goals for next high school season. Individually, he wants to be more vocal on the court and to be an overall better player. As a team, he hopes to “play well together, learn and grow from our mistakes, be conservative with the ball and have a good record.”
Andrel Anthony Jr. wants to earn a Division 1 scholarship and “be successful both academically and on the court.” He is focused on improving his game staying on the Honor Roll at school. His parents provide support and motivation. “My parents are my greatest motivators in helping me achieve my goals, they push and encourage me all the time and they’re always supporting me,” said Anthony Jr.
Andrel Anthony Jr. is an elite talent. He’s hardworking, coachable, and always willing to help a teammate. There have been multiple coaches and trainers in Michigan that said he has Division 1 potential. He is certainly a must see player in Michigan’s class of 2021.
