A look at Kansas’ college commitments
UPDATED COMMITMENT LIST
KANSAS COMMITMENTS: Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who have committed to play college basketball prior to their senior season.
Israel Barnes, 6’4, G/F, 2018, Wichita Southeast (Weber State)
Barnes is headed to Big Sky country, choosing Weber State over a host of offers from UAB, Valparaiso, Cleveland State, Penn, Texas Tech and others. He is a strong, athletic wing player who brings versatility to the court and the ability to defend multiple positions at a high level.
Kobe Dickson, 6’9, PF/C, 2018, Holcomb (Cornell)
A late bloomer of sorts, Dickson is a hidden gem in Kansas’ small school basketball scene. After a strong summer competing for Oklahoma based GTH 4XIII, Dickson began to draw college interest, first from Air Force and Washburn, and recently committed to Cornell after taking a visit to the school. He is a good shot blocker and has a raw, but improving offensive skill set.
Keenan Fitzmorroris, 6’10, PF/C, 2018, St. James (Stanford)
One of the premier big men in the Midwest, Fitzmorris is a skilled big man with a big wing span and terrific length. He showcased the ability to play in the post or step out to the 3-point line where he is an ever-improving outside shooter.
Cooper Kaifes, 6’3, SG, 2018, Mill Valley (Loyola)
After missing much of his junior season, Kaifes put together a strong spring and summer competing for MoKan Elite and showed off the outside shooting and all-around game that have had scouts and college coaches talking about his game. He committed to Loyola over offers from Missouri Valley teams Northern Iowa and Missouri State, among others.
Bryant Mocaby, 6’5, F/G, 2018, Derby (Northern Kentucky)
One of the state’s premier wing players, Mocaby put together a terrific offseason competing for Kansas Pray N Play and chose Northern Kentucky over a host of suitors, mostly from the Division II level. He is a sharpshooter that can handle the ball and does a lot of things well.
Joe Pleasant, 6’6, F, 2018, Blue Valley Northwest (Abeline Christian)
Pleasant joins Missouri products Clay Gayman and Damien Daniels in the Abeline Christian 2018 recruiting class. Pleasant is a skilled inside-out forward who is a strong rebounder and brings a diverse skill set to the court.
Ben Pyle, 6’6, F, 2018, McPherson (Western Illinois)
A long, rangy wing player, Pyle is a standout perimeter shooter who surprises with his ability to get on the boards and rebound at a high level. He can handle the ball a little on the perimeter and is coming off a strong summer competing for Kansas Select.
Dylan Vincent, 6’2, PG, 2018, Eisenhower (Hutchinson CC)
Vincent is a competitor who really gets after it at both ends of the floor. He is a floor general who can shoot from the outside and who’s calling card is carving out a path to get to the bucket.
