Continuing with the releasing of our top players from the Battle in Bullhead, here is our 3rd Team. This list is loaded with guards who were pass first and good leaders. They made their teammates better and brought a work mentality to the game that made their teammates better.
Battle in Bullhead 3rd Team
AJ Hernandez 5’7 PG 2018 Mohave
Hernandez brings a lot of leadership to the table. He is a great teammate who brought consistent energy and enthusiasm to the table. His passion was contagious and made all of his teammates play harder. Further, the basketball does not stick to his hands. He moves the basketball well and finds his teammates. Hernandez did not do anything flashy, but he is a game manager who will make his teammates play harder.
Ryan Hopp 5’8 PG 2018 Lake Havasu
Hopp, much like Hernandez, brought a contagious energy. He attacked the rim well and found his teammates cutting and in spot of situations. His willingness to do whatever it took to win made him a lot of fun to watch. Further, he handled the basketball well under pressure and did not force anything. Under Hopp’s leadership, I would not be surprised to see Lake Havasu have more success this upcoming season.
Travis Moreno 5’10 PG 2018 Grand Canyon
Moreno showed why he is the leading scorer for Grand Canyon. He can score the basketball in an array of ways and does not force things. His ability to shoot the basketball from deep and in mid-range situations was impressive. Further, he is strong and gets to his spots well on the floor. Moreno plays the game with a lot of passion and toughness. He was extremely fun to watch and should be on the radar of some smaller schools due to his selfless play, strength, and scoring abilities.
Elijah Howery 5’8 PG 2018 Kingman
Howery showed much improvement on the defensive end compared to the Top 250 Expo. He was constantly getting his hands on loose balls and causing havoc for post players due to his quick hands. In addition, he continued his ability to create using his quick first step. When he decides to attack, he is a handful for the opposing defender. He has good footwork and gets that ball out in front while attacking the hip.
Jason Armador 5’10 PG 2019 Parker
Armador is a playmaker. While he did not score the basketball at a high level, he did a great job of putting his teammates in spots where they could be successful. As a pass first point guard, he gets into the paint well and has a good IQ which enables him to make the help side defense play. Moreover, he does not force things. He keeps the basketball moving and gets his teammates involved in every possession. He will be looked to for Parker quite a bit in this upcoming season.
