Battle in Bullhead 2nd Team
While the 1st Team at the Battle in Bullhead was primarily filled with prospects from the Phoenix area, the 2nd Team is loaded with prospects closer to the Bullhead area who came into the event with a lot to prove. They played at a high level and earned the ability to be showcased on our Battle in Bullhead 2nd Team.
Battle in Bullhead 2nd Team
Jeremiah Jacques 5’6 PG 2018 Mohave
There is not another prospect who surprised me more than Jacques. Don’t let looks deceive you, this kid has a big heart and a lot of bulldog in him. He shot the basketball as well as any prospect in the event and demonstrated a high basketball IQ. He gets his teammates involved and was a good leader. At the end of the games, he was a calming force who made sure his team got the right shots. Further, he was quite coachable and receptive to instruction. He had a huge day and should be getting serious consideration from smaller colleges.
Ben Petro 6’5 PF 2018 Bradshaw Mountain
Petro is solid. He is patient on the block and has good footwork. Him and Dhol Majak had a fun back and force sequence in which he should a pump fake and a nice counter move. In addition to playing well on the block, he showed an ability to play on the wing with a couple of solid rip through moves and a toughness that allowed him to play through contact. From 3, he shot the basketball well, but will need to continue to work on the speed of his shot to be a true 3/4 at the next level. His stock should continue to rise throughout the course of this season. Further, he has a sneaky athleticism and put a couple of people on notice with his put back dunk.
Bret McGowan 6’4 SF 2018 Coconino
McGowan was another talented prospect from the 4A Grand Canyon Region. He had a number of athletic finishes despite coming off of football recently. He is strong and physical and is not afraid to get after it with taller opponents. At this level, he is a luxury as he can play on the block and on the perimeter. In order for his game to translate better to the next level, he will need to work on his shot speed as well. He is a capable shooter and has a good IQ.
Tyler Chinyere 6’4 SF 2019 Kingman Academy
Chinyere is explosive. Despite being raw in certain aspects of his game, he was able to be extremely effective because of his vertical and quickness. He is also a quick jumper which assisted him in contesting and altering shots of bigger opponents. He had a couple of really impressive finishes and dunks around the rim. As he continues to develop his fundamentals and maximize his athleticism with solid footwork, his ceiling could go through the roof.

JJ White 6’0 PG/SG 2021 Ironwood
White did not look like a freshman for the vast majority of the day. He attacked the rim and created well for his teammates. Further, he demonstrated an ability to make impact plays. He played tough defense, got a number of steals without gambling, and got after it on the glass. His basketball IQ enables him to make himself effective in a multitude of ways and assist his teammates in playing better. Further, he shot the basketball extremely well from deep.
