At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
GB: My favorite part of the game day is the atmosphere. We get a lot of fans to come out to the games and it can get loud in our gym.
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you’ll always remember?
GB: Our crowd is unique because we do a theme for almost every game. Everyone dresses up and likes to heckle the other team a little bit.
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota Basketball and why?
GB: The toughest player I’ve played against is probably Brody Nieuwsma. He’s so explosive and when he gets hot from outside he is unguardable.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable.
GB: Our biggest rival is definitely the Ellendale Cardinals. We played each other four times last year and we went 2-2. It’s always a close game and we like to chirp at each other a lot.
Who is your favorite player in the world and why?
GB: My favorite basketball player is Kobe. He has a mentality that nobody will outwork him and I love that.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
GB: My favorite brand for basketball gear is Nike. We have Nike jerseys so I wear all Nike everything.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
GB: My favorite venue to play in is the Minot Dome. It’s huge and looks really cool. I have a feeling that the Newman Arena in Jamestown will be my new favorite to play in, though.
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
GB: A court that I haven’t played on would be the Bismarck Civic Center. That’s where state is this year and that’s my #1 goal is to win a state championship on that court.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players.
GB: Our varsity players have a good relationship with the younger players. We put on camps in the summer and during the season we run clinics to help improve their skills. It’s a lot of fun and we always have a blast doing it.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who is it from?
GB: The best coaching advice I’ve received is to be effective while I’m not scoring. My best strength is my scoring ability so I know that I need to be able to affect the game with my passing and defense as well. I received this advice from my high school coach Tim Ranum.
Who is your basketball influence?
GB: My basketball influence is Easton Page. He led his team to a state championship when he was a junior in 2010 for Carrington and he played college basketball. He was a great point guard.
