1A Frontrunners: Morristown
The season is getting closer and closer and we are starting to dive into the rosters and Sectionals that will help to determine who are the top competition for each class. Today, we take a look into 1A and the frontrunners. Today, we breakdown Morristown.
Last Year’s Record: 17-9
Head Coach: Scott McClelland
Top Returning Players: Eli Streeval (Sr.), Hayden Langkabel (Sr.), Logan Laster (Jr.)
Top Departures: N/A
New Additions: Kyle Crim (Fr.)
Why A Frontrunner: For Morristown, this is the year that they have building up to. They have a group of upperclassmen that have the ability to really put up points and even if teams can key in on a player like Hayden Langkabel, Morristown should feel pretty solid about a guy like Eli Streeval or Logan Laster being able to score the ball. They really didn’t lose anything last year and have another year of development for everyone on the roster. They have a really solid schedule with a few tougher games against teams like Northeastern, Shelbyville, and Oldenburg Academy. Those games will be key as they try and figure out how they will match up in Sectionals and beyond. Expectations are high as this team is at it’s height.
Outlook: The outlook for this team is a Sectional Championship at the least and a possible Semistate run. That means they will have to get past Oldenburg and Hauser in Sectionals and then likely Indianapolis Tindley and Bloomfield in Regionals to do that. A tall task but their ceiling is big enough to accomplish it.
