Xavier Castaneda to USF
The top 10 prospects in Illinois are flying off the board! Whitney Young 2018 point Xavier Castaneda just committed to South Florida after taking an official visit recently. He told us why they were his choice.
“When I went to USF it felt like home. Me and coach have developed a great relationship. It’s the perfect fit for me and I can’t wait to get down there!”
He liked the fit with his playing style.
“With the open/ball screen style of play they have it suits me perfectly.”
Castaneda is coming off a strong July where he performed particularly well at the Victor Oladipo camp during the second live period. He opened up quite a few coaches eyes with his play at the camp and that has ramped up his recruitment. He is a high IQ point guard with a good feel for getting others involved. Pushes the tempo with his speed in the open floor. He was a big part of the Dolphins state title run last year and will be another key factor in them making a deep run in March again.
Castaneda currently ranks as the #7 overall prospect in 2018 and #2 point guard. He played with Meanstreets in the Nike EYBL.
