Blanchet’s exciting freshman point guard Maui Sze is making his case as one of the best freshmen in the state.
Sze has a high basketball IQ, playing at a solid pace, with the ability to change speeds and explode out of moves off the dribble. He has some what of a Steve Nash feel to his game, keeping his dribble alive when he penetrates to the hoop and finding open teammates. He has good court vision and can really get it going from behind the arc, knocking down threes with his quick release.
As a freshman, Sze has tons of room for improvement. He understands the areas in which he needs to improve in and what he has to do to separate himself from the competition.
Sze is still very young, so recruiting hasn’t picked up as much for the freshman, but he should slowly start picking up looks after his first summer AAU circuit.
At his size, he plays with a lot of heart and gets his teammates going on both ends of the court, being vocal and showing his leadership. Williams is a floor general and should pick up some looks his final grassroots season. Â He is an aggressive point guard, who plays physical and works through contact. He has good court vision, but is more of a scoring point guard, who can really get it going offensively.
