Top 250 Expo: Underclassmen to Watch
The Top 250 Expo for Arizona is this Saturday, September 16. With the event right around the corner, here are some of the top underclassmen to watch at the Top 250 Expo. In addition to these players, there are a number of other prospects who will look to make some noise at the event.
Top 250 Expo Underclassmen
Evan Nelson 6’3 PG 2020 Salpointe
Nelson is one of the most high profile point guards who will be at the event. Nelson has received interest from a number of NCAA Division-I schools. His length and abilities will be on full display this weekend as he takes on the competition at the Top 250 Expo.
Dominic Gonzalez 6’3 PG/SG 2020 Ironwood
Gonzalez will be one of the most improved players in the state. He had a solid varsity year as a freshman. However, he will look to take on more of a scoring role with increased length and athleticism. Gonzalez is an interest prospect as he has a smooth shot from mid-range and three as well as a lot of upside.
Tre Bell 5’7 PG 2021 Peoria
Bell is a freshman at Peoria. He has good change of pace and direction on his ball handling moves. Moreover, he is quick and versatile. He is a good shooter and gets to the rim well. Defensively, he moves his feet well and is a good on ball defender.
JJ White 6’0 PG/SG 2021 Ironwood
White has a high basketball IQ to go along with length and good athleticism. Further, he is a knock down shooter who has a lot of confidence. In addition to being able to play the 2, he has a good handle that enables him to play the 1 in a lot of situations.
Fontane Ross 5’11 PG 2020 South Mountain
Ross attended the event last year and impressed the coaches with his feel for the game as well as his athleticism. He gets into the paint well and has a good shot that makes him a balanced scorer. It will be fun to watch how he has improved from one year to the next as he made a great first impression last year.
Ramon Franklin 5’7 PG 2020 Washington
Franklin is quick and gets from point A to point B in a hurry. His decision making has improved, and he is a capable shooter from deep. Franklin has a lot to prove this season. He is a skilled guard and is hopeful that he can play a big role in helping Washington make some noise in 4A. A strong showing at the Top 250 Expo would be a good start.
Tyson Legner 6’2 SG 2020 Rancho Solano
Legner will be one of the most versatile underclassmen at the event. He can play multiple spots on the floor and does all of the little things. He is capable of being a scoring threat on the offensive end. However, he is not a ball dominant guard that is going to disrupt the flow of the game. He does a great job of picking his spots and being assertive at the right times.
