Zach Baldinelli- Boiling Springs (pictured above)
Although he is already ranked 30th in our state rankings, Baldinelli was one of the best performers on Sunday and clearly outplayed some players ranked ahead of him. Baldinelli has a strong build, high IQ, and passes very well. This 6’2” guard is a fiery competitor who gives his all on both ends. He is an exceptional scorer also, putting nonstop pressure on the defense with his athleticism and penetration ability, while also displaying an effective jumper. Baldinelli’s versatility is hard to find.
Sean McCabe- Nation Ford
McCabe came into camp with a growing reputation and after watching him on Sunday, it is easy to see why. McCabe is a smart, patient player who can do it all on offense. He shoots well from the outside off the catch or off the dribble and has good touch in the paint. McCabe has some flash to his game as well; he converted on crafty layups and dropped some sharp passes on Sunday. As he continues to get stronger, McCabe will be tough to stop.
CJ Jamison- Legacy Early
Jamison was one of those ultimate-energy guys on Sunday. He might not be the biggest guy, but he makes sure his impact is felt with relentless effort. Jamison is a tough defender and created many opportunities with his abilities on that end. Jamison can shoot well but he was also a frequent visitor inside on offense; he made his way into the paint often and consistently finished. Jamison’s motor served him very well in this camp setting.
Daniel Finney- AC Flora
Finney will now be able to play a bigger role at AC Flora with the departure of Christian Brown, and seems well-suited to do so. Finney wowed everyone in attendance with his athleticism, he had some of the biggest dunks of the day and almost shut the gym down with one posterizing slam. The 6’6” wing plays very hard and has good length to go with his athleticism, making an impact on defense and rebounding well. Finney should thrive at AC Flora this year.
Mason Carver- Lexington
Carver was one of the sleepers at the camp and probably went unnoticed by many who were there. However, he caught my eye early on and had some good moments throughout the day. In his home gym, you could tell Carver was comfortable; he was efficient and took advantage of his opportunities. Standing 6’0”, he is a great shooter who elevates well and has a quick release with deep range. Carver is a smart, fundamental player who made good decisions off the dribble also.
