Recruiting Report: Matt Todd (2018)
With Division I ball as his top focus, Monticello senior Matt Todd is keeping his options open this fall.
He caught the eyes of several good programs this spring and summer with the Minnesota Comets, and he continues to try and network prior to his senior season.
“Things are still pretty wide open for me,” Todd told NHR. “The schools I hear from the most are Denver, Army, Nebraska-Omaha and then the two jucos I have offers from: Highland CC and Northeast CC. D1 is my goal and where I want to play. I don’t hear much from D2s.”
Todd is training and lifting this fall in preparation for the winter. He may take some visits soon, but nothing is imminent.
“I’d like to try to see Denver and Army before the season starts,” he said. “I’m not in a rush to make a decision right now so I’m still seeing what will happen now until the season starts and even through my senior season if that’s how it plays out. If junior college is my best option, then I’d definitely think about that.”
Monticello (or “Monti,” as I’ve learned is a nickname) went 11-16 last year but returns both players in double figures — Todd (25.5 PPG) and Rezi Uzeh (11.2 PPG). I like the chances of Monticello making significant strides this winter.
“Rezi Useh should be a big part of our team this year,” Todd said. “It’ll be his third year of getting a lot of playing time, and we also have a lot of returning juniors who got minutes last year that should have bigger roles this season.”
