Recruiting Report: Jarius Cook (2018)
Park Center guard Jarius Cook earned himself a number of college opportunities but in the end it was Idaho, NDSU, and Northern Iowa, that he was most interested in.
This week Jarius selected North Dakota State as his school and the visit was a key part.
“My North Dakota State visit went very well,” Jarius Cook. “I was able to hangout with the team, see the facilities and campus, and then go to the football game. I liked the campus vibe a lot as everyone was very friendly and I loved the school.
“My parents loved it too. They really liked the campus as well as the coaches and the atmosphere. The NDSU coaches message to me was that this would be a great place for me to grow as a player, a person and a student.”
Northern Iowa came strong for Cook in September but NDSU was after Jarius for a much longer period of time and that commitment to him is what led to Cook picking NDSU.
“What put NDSU over the top for me and made me want to commit was the fan support, atmosphere and the coaches just building a relationship over time,” Cook explained.
“I made the decision after school on Monday, so I called coach Dave Richman and he went crazy. They want to use me as a combo guard, and I’m good with it. Rocky and Tyree were my hosts and I like them a lot. They’re really relatable guys, and I played against Rocky in high school too.
“I’m now done with the recruiting process, and I want Bison fans to know that I can’t wait to get on campus, get to know the fans, and win some games!”
Cook’s focus is now on Park Center basketball, a top five program in Class AAAA entering the season.
