Recruiting Report: Abdul Mohammed (2019)
Class of 2019, 6’9, power forward Abdul Mohammed is a man amongst kids.
Washington’s 5th-ranked 2019, Mohamed underwent surgery last May, and says he’s pretty much back to normal and ready to get back to work. With him missing this past summer, this season he has a lot to prove and a lot of people to prove it to. I think this will be his year and he will have a huge impact at West Seattle.
Certainly one of the state’s most promising young prospects, the 6-foot-8 forward mentioned that there’s a couple schools on the verge of offering. They just want to wait and see how he comes back from the surgery.
As of late some schools have emerged and have been showing MAJOR interest in the young power forward. Schools like Cal Poly, Montana, California, Eastern Washington, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Hawaii and Boise State.
“I’ve been working on my athleticism, now I’m playing above the rim with ease, and that’s fun to do. My ball-handling is starting to get better, I’ve been really working on that,” said Mohamed, who says his sophomore season went well.
Abdul can stretch the floor and make threes but one of his biggest strengths is his leadership and basketball IQ. He needs to focus on adding muscle mass and becoming more physical in the post. While Abdul does have perimeter skill, he needs to spend the lead-up to his junior season working on becoming a more consistent shooter and get more comfortable putting the ball on the floor.
