Prospect Spotlight: Noah Baylis (2020)
A 5-foot-11 point guard from Holly, Noah Baylis has already established himself as one of the best 2020 guards in Michigan.
And he’s seemingly just scratching the surface.
“When I’m on the floor, I’m an aggressive scorer, but I can see the floor. I’m a floor general, I know where everyone is at. When I’m going to the rim, my first instinct is I got to get to the rim. But I’m a shooter with deep range, and if you give me some room, I’m going to pull it,” said Baylis.
“I’m really good at threading the needle and I’m getting better at getting to the (free-throw) line.”
Baylis spent his spring and summer excelling on the grassroots circuit, and played with Mid-Michigan Lakers 15U before running with Camp Darryl 17U in July.
“I had a great spring and summer, and had a lot of high scoring games. My mid-range has really improved from last summer to now, and my jumper has become very effective,” said Baylis.
“When I went to Indiana with Camp Darryl 17U, I was their leading scorer, and that was a great experience.”
With his sophomore season at Holly quickly approaching, Baylis — who is a 4.0 student — has high expectations for himself
“My role last year was not to be the go-to point guard, I was more of a shooting guard. This year I’ll be accountable for scoring a lot more and getting the offense started,” said Baylis.
“My goal is to finish with 400 points this season, and my long-term goal is to be the all-time leading scorer at Holly High School.”
Though he still has plenty of time to generate more attention, particularly from college coaches, his recruitment is something that’s already started to materialize.
“I’ve received letters and interest from schools at all levels in the Midwest and East Coast, such as Bard College, Kalamazoo College, Boston University,” said Baylis, who has his recruitment goals set high.
“My goal is to play Division I basketball, or play at the highest level I can possibly play at, and at a great academic school.”
