Prospect Spotlight: Marcus Austin (2018)
Washington’s 28th-ranked 2018, Marcus Austin has already picked up one Division I offer from a California program, and has a couple more that have sent some initial recruitment mail.
Austin is a good-sized guard who considers his strength as being a playmaker, from either the point guard or shooting guard spots.
With interest from schools such as UC-Davis, Yale, Oregon State, Boise and Montana and has gotten some letters and stuff from Washington too. He currently holds a Cal Poly offer.
“I’ve been working a lot on my outside shot and trying to get that more consistent. And I’ve been working on becoming a more poised guard to get ready for the next level,” he said. “So those are the two things I’ve been working on and they’ve both gotten a lot better.”
Austin will now suit up for the Federal Way Eagles this season after transferring out of Seattle Academy. Originally living in the federal way school district. Travel wise it make sense. For the Eagles they are now getting a prolific scorer and play maker along with a high D1 recruit added to their roster. Coach Collins should be amped about the new addition. I think he will bring a balance to both sides of the ball that they lost when Marcus Stephens left. I like this guy’s motor and defensive intensity. Sometimes you can focused on a players offensive tool that you miss out on the intangibles. Defense, rebounding and leading the break are things he does at a high level.
