Prospect Spotlight: Iyzik Pam (2021)
Class of 2021, 6’1, guard, Iyzik L. Pam of Todd Beamer high school is a force to be reckoned with. This young man is already playing at an ELITE level and he’s only a FRESHMAN!!!
There was a time where the point guard was just a utility player. Your Bring the ball up the floor, call a play, and set up your teammates. The point guard position has evolved and so has the players. Your typical point guard can do it all. Rebound, defend, score and posturize opposing players. You think of Westbrook, Wall, Lillard, Irving just to name a few. Those guards average more points than assist. Now that the paint is wide open, you want guards on your roster who can attack the seams and create shot opportunities for themselves and for their teammates.
This young ball player is measured already having a 39.6 vertical along with a quick first step which can break the defender down with the dribble and has a solid mid range game. His passion for the game electrifies the crowd and he feeds off of that energy. While most coaches spend time trying to get their players prepped for big games this young man comes in with that mindset. Iyzik is one of the top players in his class in the state of Washington. The soon to be Todd Beamer Varsity standout has a serious handle and pull up jump shot. He has a good feel for the game and can change speed and direction at the drop of a dime. I was mainly impressed with his ability to defend at a high clip.
I was able to reach out to both Isaac (dad) and young Iyzik (son) and get some insight on what’s to come for the Pam’s…
Please tell me about your game? What do you think would stand out to a coach?
“I am known for my explosiveness/ball handling/court vision/athleticism. I feel that EVERY PART of my game can improve. My dad (Coach Isaac Pam) always tells me, “don’t practice til you get it right, practice until you cant get it wrong.”
What AAU team are you playing for and how has the season been going so far?
“I have been playing for Nw Rain from (3rd-7th) winning 12 championships and played for Kent Elite X 8th, where we finished ranked #6 on the westcoast in 2017. I was invited to play with Cali Boost in 2018.”
What’s recruitment looking like for you now?
“Currently three different D3 schools came to watch me work out during training session with Rain Show Training and I have yet to officially play in a high school game.”
“Some of my achievements consist of winning a total of 18 championships: (12 with NwRain,2 with Future, 4 with Kent Elite), 3x Tournament MVP, played in 4 All star games, Top25 Washington student athlete, 2017 EBC Jr All American, 2018 National Phenom 150 selection, Starting Varsity as a freshman.”
