Prospect Spotlight: Ryley Larson (2019)
Class of 2019 Ryley Larson is a 5’10 stud of a guard. He has the intangibles coaches are looking for. He can defend, push the ball and is a terror in transition. He is primed to have a great year.
The jump from Junior year to Senior year is huge for a number of prospects. Many Juniors who saw some or no playing time on the varsity level become juniors and relied upon heavily. Further, other guards who had stellar Junior years will look to make the leap and show that they have not peaked. Ryley Larson still has a lot of from to grow and I look forward to seeing him on the court this season.
The Hawks are one of the early favorites to win the 2A state championship this year due largely to Ryley. Ryley has made a lot of noise due to his playing making ability at the point guard position. I am extremely high on this young man because he impacts the game in so many ways. He is without a doubt in consideration for the most versatile point guard in the division. It is not an exaggeration to expect Ryley to average close to a double double this season with points and steals. In addition, he has quick hands and plays passing lanes well – he will contribute assists to those totals as well.
Last season Ryley did a nice job of taking advantage of his speed and quickness, especially in the transition game when he looked like a blur at times on the break. He is a pass-first point guard who knows how to get his teammates involved in the offense, but he can also knock down open 3-pointers when he has to.
