Prospect Rankings Update: 2018 Top Slashers (Tier 2)
PrepHoopsTennessee ranked the top 149 players in the state and this three-part series on Top Slashers breaks up the top tiers into three 10-person bunches. The first tier included Ryan Boyce, Caden Mills, Coulter Dotson, and seven more prospects. The third tier discusses players on the fringe of college recruiting. A couple of the third tier wings currently boast D2 interest.
This group of ten players represents the 11th to the 20th best wings in the state.
You can see the complete 2018 rankings here.
#40 Jack Sompayrac
Jack Sompayrac doubles as a QB and a shooting guard for Knoxville Catholic. He is a knockdown shooter off the catch.
#45 Jayden Hardaway
Jayden probably played with the best teammates top to bottom in the state the last two years. Certainly he belonged, but the sacrifices he made to assimilate cost him shine. Jayden can shoot. How far that takes him is undetermined.
#47 Patrick Urey
The combo guard Patrick Urey is building off a Mercer offer. Chattanooga evaluated him last week and Lehigh also offered.
#48 Evan Sigler
Most of these players are good shooters, while Evan Sigler is great. He buried 8 triples in a playoff game last spring. Further Sigler is an outstanding student.
#60 Warren Zager
A younger basketball brother, Warren Zager played some as a freshman at Ensworth High as a forward. Each year he got a little more nimble and extended his range. With a big senior effort to solidify the promise he once showed as a LM shooter. But Zager steadily developed each off-season.
#62 Arecko Gipson Jr.
Like Hardaway, Gipson Jr. struggles to get attention from recruiters because he plays so sparingly. For Gipson Jr. running with Team Penny might have been a mistake. His game would flourish with more touches and more minutes. The senior campaign will demonstrate how good he really is.
#63 Rayshad Williams (FB)
Lausanne Collegiate benefits from the power and bounce of Rayshad Williams in two sports (football, basketball). Like most dual-sport players he excels under the glass. Williams won’t play beyond this season, but can make an impact.
#67 Devante Logwood
A long lanky wing, Logwood continues to be quite raw. His height (6-foot-6) makes him a project worth evaluating if nothing else.
#70 Devin Payne
Transferred to Douglass from Whitehaven.
#74 James Franklin Jr.
Played some with Team Thad 17u. Recruited by Josh Weeden to play with the Team Thad bunch. Franklin is a wonderful two-foot leaper and thrives out in the open floor. He would do well to couple with a visionary point guard.
