Program MVP: Martin Macenis
Who was the MVP of each grassroots team program this past spring and summer? This might not necessarily be the best player although in many cases it is. We are looking at the player from Illinois that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
We really enjoyed watching the ET21 Buckeyes 16U group this spring and summer on the circuit. They have a well-rounded team with a pair of potential D1 prospects. In our eyes one of those prospects really broke out on the circuit. That player is Stagg 6’5” small forward Martin Macenis. He has won our program MVP for the Buckeyes. Smooth handles with long strides. Likes to use euro step in the lane to finish. Very skilled wing that works well around screens as a passer, driver, and jump shooter. One of his more impressive plays was a shot fake, allowing his man to fly by, and then finished with a one dribble pull up. Ability to knock down threes off the catch with a bit of a long release. Lots of arc on shot. Defensively he is an underrated player. Moves well laterally and his length allows him to get deflections. Macenis is a low-major prospect with mid-major upside.
Congratulations to Stagg 2019 small forward Martin Macenis on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Program MVP for ET21 Buckeyes.
