Program MVP: Drew Peterson
Who was the MVP of each grassroots team program this past spring and summer? This might not necessarily be the best player although in many cases it is. We are looking at the player from Illinois that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
The Illinois Wolves program MVP was one of the tougher ones to pin down. There were several that quality candidates for this award, but our pick is Libertyville 2018 small forward Drew Peterson. This wing brings a lot of projectability to the table. He has size at 6’7” which allows him to see over the defense. He is a long and wiry wing that is a quality athlete being able to handle the ball. His shot has a chance to be a plus weapon at the next level. He gets elevation off the floor and has pure mechanics. Can be streaky at times with it, but for the most part when we personally evaluated him at multiple events he shot it well.
We thought that Peterson opened the spring very strong with his play at Swish N Dish. He showed off his versatile offensive game hitting feathery jumpers from all over the floor. When his jumper is rolling it opens up so much for not only his offensive game, but his team as a whole. Peterson also had a strong showing again in Milwaukee a few months later in July at the Summer Jam where he was the go to scorer for the Wolves making some clutch shots including a big game winning tip in.
Congratulations to Libertyville 2018 small forward Drew Peterson on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Program MVP for the Illinois Wolves.
