Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo: Third Team and Honorable Mentions
Below is our third team for the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Arizona. There are a number of high caliber prospects on this list who might be somewhat under the radar in Arizona. The first two teams were guard heavy. However, with the third team, there is more size and some high potential players.
Third Team
Dhol Majak 6’10 C 2018 Ironwood
Majak has improved a lot since this time last year. However, he still has raw spots that were apparent at the Top 250 Expo. With that said, for the most part, he was able to demonstrate his improvements. He has a tremendous motor and gets up and down the floor with ease due to his length. At one point, he blocked a shot that led to a transition missed layup in which he got the offensive rebound and put back. Majak is far from a finished product, but he has a lot of upside and potential.
Beau Williams 6’3 SG 2020 Perry
Perry has a very solid team heading into this upcoming season. Williams is another piece to that talented squad. He brings length, strength, and an unexpected quickness. His ability to make a move and explode out of it was very impressive. Even more than his offense, he really caught my attention at times on the defensive end. Due to his athleticism, he is able to pressure the ball handler while keeping him in front.
Hunter Shkapich 6’1 SG 2019 Valor Christian (Colorado)
Shkapich was one of the most explosive players at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. He caught everyone off guard and by surprise as he did a drop step dunk in the post station of skill development. In addition to being a great athlete, he is a consistent shot and was shooting it very well. This kid is the real deal and will make noise in Colorado this season.
Emad Elniel 6’5 SG 2019 Independence
Elniel is as long and skilled as advertised. He is smooth with a well-balanced game and a soft touch. His size and length give him the ability to be an elite level wing. Further, he has a solid skill set that often gets overlooked. He might be one of the best kept secrets in the West Valley. However, I do not know how much longer he will stay a secret with the type of year that he should have at Independence in his Junior campaign.
Timothy Yoder 6’7 SF 2018 Goldwater
Yoder shot the basketball as well as anyone at the event. He did not take bad shots and has a high release point. He has improved a great deal since the last time that I saw him play with Goldwater. It will be interesting to see how Yoder’s length and shooting abilities translate into this upcoming season.
