Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo: 2018/2019 New Names to Know
The Top 250 Expo is all about learning new names, especially at the upperclassmen levels as players put their name on the radar before important upcoming seasons.
Corbyn Alexander of Rocori (6-1, 2019). A young athlete that will give the Spartans something different this winter as in our latest viewing he didn’t just hit from the arc but also scored with the quick first step into an attack.
Connor Arnold of Le Sueur-Henderson (6-5, 2019), Hard working player for the Giants that is good with his back to the basket and a constant battling on the glass.
Domenik Block of Park Cottage Grove (6-2, 2019). Block was one of the most explosive finishers at the event, his ability to burst off the dribble and his ability to knock down shots caught everyone’s attention. Block has a chance to be a top 50 kid in his class based on what we saw this past weekend.
Shawn Carsten of Minnewaska Area (6-9, 2019). Shawn is thin but he runs well and his length is a problem for anybody that is trying to score over him. His low post defense was excellent and Shawn finished at a high percentage this weekend.
Lamont Everd of Winnipeg Kelvin (5-11, 2019). A poised young Canadian talent that handled with some of the best control we saw this weekend. Everd wants to play at the college level in Minnesota when he enters college in two years.
Adam Leary of Rochester Mayo (6-5, 2019). Adam is another Mayo player that has grabbed our attention. A vocal defender who plays actively rebounding at a high rate and defending with consistency. Developing a touch it seems too.
Miles Mendes of Farmington (6-4, 2019). Another 2019 that is explosive finishing at the rim plus a strong frame a nice start in terms of skills. Mendes has a natural athletic advantage over most and he should be a key producer for the Tigers the next couple seasons.
Hunter Nielsen of New Prague (6-6, 2019). Another well built and tall Trojans frontcourt player who should rebound and defend consistently for his team this winter.
Austin Puppe of Monticello (6-4, 2019). The worry about the Magic is their depth next season but Austin should be able to give his team a lot of hard working minutes as a top defender and third or fourth scoring option.
AJ Tolliver of Minnetonka (5-10, 2019). Tolliver played the point position with a toughness, gave up no angles defensively, and attacked the basket with a purpose. Should be able to give the Skippers some good minutes.
Ben Winkels of Perham (5-11, 2018). Ben surely left an impression. The first thing he did was play outstanding team defense moving his feet well laterally on the ball and playing in perfect help position off the ball. Ben hit all of his open shots, handled the ball with turning it over, made the right passes, and played like a veteran about to have a nice senior year. Definitely a kid that could play somewhere at the division three level.
Levi Wylie of Braham (6-3, 2018). If there were stats kept at this even Levi would of surely been a top five scorer and maybe a top five rebounder as well. Wylie scored six plus a game for Cambridge the stats showed last year but he is now listed at Braham and if he scores in the skilled ways he did this past weekend he is going to have a great year for the Bombers.
