Palmetto State : Region 8-AAAA Players to Watch
Region 8-AAAA has some talent this season and Prep Hoops SC takes a look at it right here in this article.
Ephraim Butler (2018) – Berkeley HS (pictured on front)
Butler a point guard has been leading the charge for the Stags the past few seasons. Butler played limited AAU last season after starting off with TMP. Butler moved to All or Nothing to finish the summer. Butler keeps the ball on a string and can really get into the gaps. Prep Hoops is looking for Butler to have a breakout season for the Stags.
Tristian Nieves (2018) – Colleton County HS (Walterboro)
Nieves is a great athlete on the floor and probably the best athlete in this region. Nieves 6’2 guard came on the scene as sophomore for the Cougars and also as a promising football player. Nieves averaged 13 ppg last season for the 15-10 Cougars.
De’lajae Ferguson (2018) – Colleton County HS (Walterboro)
Ferguson is currently having a nice season on th gridiron for the Cougars. Ferguson a very versatile player has great elevation on his shot. Ferguson recently played in the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Ferguson led the Cougars in scoring last season at 14.5 ppg.
Romello Grant (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Grant is a diamond in the rough. Grant transferred into Stall HS this season from nearby Military Magnet. Grant is a tough kid who plays a lot bigger than his size. Grant is not afraid to mix it up in the paint or handle the ball in transition. Grant averaged 16 ppg last season at Military Magnet.
Jalen Bailey (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Bailey a left-handed guard joined Grant in the move over to Stall HS. Bailey a left-handed guard has a quick shot release. Bailey really likes to push the ball in transition. Bailey likes to play 94 feet at all times on the floor.
DeAndre Bryan (2019) – Berkeley HS
Bryan 6’6 is a RAW athlete who will get better with just playing time for the Stags. Prep Hoops first saw him play at a AAU event this past spring in York, SC with the Charleston Strong AAU team. Bryan runs the floor in simple strides and has great length. Bryan is very coachable and still learning the game.
Seth Rivers (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Rivers has been a fixture here at Stall since his freshman season. Rivers is slowly coming along and this needs to be a break out year for the post player. Rivers played AAU with TMP 16U this past summer.
This Region seems to be open this season with the new additions for the Stall HS Warriors and some veteran teams in Berkeley HS and Colleton County HS. Stay tune to Prep Hoops for all of your coverage action here in the Palmetto State.
