Palmetto State: Region 8-AAA Players to Watch
Prep Hoops looks at Region 8-3A. This region is located down in the Lowcountry of the Palmetto State.
Jermaine Patterson (2018) Bluffton HS (pictured on front)
Patterson is a 5-11 guard for the Bobcats. Patterson is very aggressive on the defensive side of the floor. Patterson has a knack to score the ball and can score it from all 3 levels on the floor. Patterson plays both football and basketball for the Bobcats. Patterson is ranked #41 in the 2018 Palmetto State Class.
Patterson has caught 27 passes for 562 yards and seven touchdowns this year for the Bobcats. Patterson played for Upward Stars Southeast 2018 this past summer.
Rashane Duncan (2018) Wade Hampton HS (Hampton)
Duncan is a 6’9 power forward that played for Upward Stars Southeast 2018 this past summer. Duncan averaged 8 ppg and grabbed 7.5 rebounds a game this past season. Duncan runs the floor extremely well and is quick off his feet. Duncan is better defensively than offensively.
Duncan started off his high school career at Estill HS.
Diamonte Robinson (2018) Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS (Ridgeland)
Robinson a 6’3 shooting guard will carry the load for the Jaguars this season. Robinson will be the leader after the graduation of the Jaguars two stars from last year. Robinson is quick to hole and will step out for the open jump shot. Robinson will trapped and steal the ball on defense.
Trey Pusha (2019) Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS (Ridgeland)
Pusha 6’0 guard can shoot the ball out on the perimeter. Pusha just like Robinson will be a leader after the graduation several Jaguars seniors. Pusha is quick end to end on the floor and likes to push the tempo when given the chance.
Samuel Gray (2020) Wade Hampton HS (Hampton)
Gray 6-0 guard is a young player who is very quick to pressure the ball handler. Gray is a player to watch in the coming years at Wade Hampton HS. Gray is the son of Head Coach Roman Gray.
Qwalei Turner has left May River HS and is now attending Nitro Hs (WV). Turner (2020) averaged 12 ppg last season for May River HS. Turner played summer AAU ball with Upward Stars Southeast 2020 this summer. Turner is currently playing football for Nitro HS.
