Palmetto State : Region 4-AAA Players to Watch
Region 4-AAA is only a 5 team region here in the Palmetto State. Here is a look at the region in this article.
Donovan Belton (2018) – Camden HS (pictured on front)
Belton 6’2 left-handed wing player sees the floor very well and is always looking to lead the break. Belton has great court vision and loves to make the extra pass. Belton plays very unselfish at times almost too a fault.
Belton constantly has his motor running in transition and loves to play with a solid mid-range game. Belton was a All-Region Performer last season for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are coached by Ron McKie. Belton could be the front runner for player of the year in the region this coming season.
Cameron Jefferson (2018) – Camden HS
Jefferson finishes on contact at the basket. Jefferson 5’10 always seems to be leaking out for cheapies on the offensive end. Jefferson at times gets a bit too confident with shot and chases it around the floor. Jefferson will use his body well to fight off defenders.
Torrey “T.J.” Hollis (2018) – Chester HS
Hollis was a pleasant surprise recently at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Hollis excels on the football field as a wide receiver for the Cyclones.
Jerrick Palmer (2018) – Indian Land HS
Palmer has no true position on the floor for the Warriors. Palmer 6’0 has a great nose for the ball prefers to slash to the rack. Palmer averaged 11.5 ppg last season.
Destin Clark (2020) – Indian Land HS
Clark is built like a tank and plays multiple positions on the floor. Clark who has a football frame and shoulders is limited on the perimeter and prefers to drive to the basket. Clark always seems to be bitten by the injury bug. Clark played AAU with Team Charlotte this past summer.
Will Barber (2021) – Fairfield Central HS (Winnsboro)
Barber is just a pup on this squad and looks to have a bright future for the Griffins. Barber saw action last season as a 8th grader. Barber played some AAU with the South Carolina Kings.
Shaman Alston recently left Indian Land HS and transferred to Nation Ford HS. Alston (2019) was the top player in this region at 18 ppg last season. Alston runs AAU with Upward Stars Southeast 2019.
Columbia HS finished at 2-19 last season under Head Coach Tee Newman.
