Palmetto State : Recruiting News Nichols commits
The past couple days in the Palmetto State we have seen some recruiting news.
Jimmy Nichols has committed to Providence for next season. Nichols recently visited the Friars and walked away with a early pledge to the American Athletic Conference school. Nichols 6’8 plays his high school basketball at Conway HS.
Nichols has played the past few summers with Garner Road on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit. Nichols averaged 16 ppg and 10 rebounds last season for the Tigers. Nichols will be ranked #4 in the new Prep Hoops SC rankings that will come out later this week.
Nichols a left-handed post player has great length and runs the the floor very well. Nichols has seen good minutes since his freshman season with the Tigers. Nichols had narrowed his Final 3 schools down to Providence, Miami (FL) and South Carolina before deciding on the Friars.
Shaman Alston informed Prep Hoops that he will be transferring to Nation Ford HS for this coming season to play basketball. Alston who played AAU with Upward Stars Southeast 2019 was attending Indian Land HS. Alston 6’4 averaged 18.1 ppg, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season for the Warriors.
Alston will join forces with Zeb Graham Jr, Eric Moulds, Khydarius Smith, Malik Bryant, Sean McCabe Travell Crosby and Landon Murray on the Falcons roster this coming season. Alston will provide more bunch to a talented roster.
Jerrel Kelly looks to be receiving attention from Texas Tech, Old Dominion and Wofford according to Laurence Manning Academy Head Coach Will Epps. Kelly 6’9 played this summer with Upward Stars Southeast 2018. Kelly averaged 10.4 ppg last season for the Swampcats.
The rest of this week Prep Hoops SC will be unveiling its new rankings for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 classes. We here at Prep Hoops SC had a chance to see a lot of kids play since launching the site back in January 2017. We had to chance to expand the rankings with more players.
