Program MVP: Ayo Dosunmu
Who was the MVP of each grassroots team program this past spring and summer? This might not necessarily be the best player although in many cases it is. We are looking at the player from Illinois that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
The pick for the Mac Irvin Fire is pretty easy in Morgan Park 2018 point guard Ayo Dosunmu. When you look at what Dosunmu brings to the table he is a tough cover in so many ways. He has size for position along with that speed to blow past defenders. His initial burst and the ease which he gets past defenders is elite. What he is best at is making layups at the rim. He is the Kyrie Irving of high school basketball in that sense as a ton of his points come on scooping layups that he puts spin on.
This past spring and summer the Fire didn’t have the fire power that they are accustomed too so they relied heavily on Dosunmu to carry the load in the Nike EYBL. We saw it time and time again when he just completely took over games by himself. That was no more evident than when they played in Milwaukee during Summer Jam against elite competition. The rest of his team was neutralized, but that didn’t stop Dosunmu from scoring in bunches over and over and over again. He attacks the defense and makes them pay for their mistakes. He is an elite prospect out of the state of Illinois and without question a high-major recruit.
Congrats to Morgan Park 2018 point guard Ayo Dosunmu on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Program MVP for the Mac Irvin Fire.
