Grant Ledford Visiting Chattanooga (2019)
As AAU wrapped PrepHoopsTN featured Grant Ledford (Knoxville Grace Christian), a lesser-known Tennessee Bobcat guard following his unofficial visit to Navy.
The 6-foot-5 scorer has been lighting up both exposure camps and a fall league. His stock is slowly climbing among college scouts.
“UTC came and watched me workout this morning,” shared Grant Ledford with PrepHoops.com Tuesday. “Workout went well.”
Ledford can score on all three levels. His size and shooting touch really make an enticing prospect. College coaches will be in to watch him the rest of the month and as soon as his junior season begins glaring boxscores revealing his scoring prowess will draw even more coaches to his games.
It is important to note which colleges caught on early with Grant, because often they carry more weight when the recruitment winds down.
“I’m going on an unofficial visit to UTC Thursday,” said Grant Ledford. “A few other schools are trying to come watch me workout or play open gym soon. I’ll let you know when they’re coming soon.”
What does Ledford want to get out of a Chattanooga visit?
“Just to meet the rest of the coaching staff and get to know them better,” said Grant Ledford. “Coach Walter Offutt was the one that came to visit me today, I like him a lot. I’m going to watch them practice. So I’ll get a better feel for how they play and the players they have and also to just see the campus and all that it has to offer.”
A couple of weeks ago Ledford mentioned his intention to visit Furman, Chattanooga, and Belmont in the coming month. Later this week he makes good on the first of those visits.
Chattanooga is at an interesting time in their program’s history. Young hard-charging Head Coach Matt McCall set an outrageously high bar during his two seasons in town.
After Coach McCall moved to UMass, Lamont Paris (Wisconsin Assistant Coach) assumed the helm. The Mocs have a fertile recruiting base, but several Tennessee colleges are competing for the same players. East Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee are recruiting better than ever. With three short-tenured coaches at UT, Vandy, and Memphis the recruiting wars are ripe for all.
It is a good time to be a mid major program in the Volunteer State.
Grant Ledford is touring several shortly.
