Overall Thoughts on Season
The Chicago Demons 17U enjoyed a great travel season. We played in 9 tournaments and one showcase and we were champions at six of those events. The success of the Chicago Demons 17U is predicated on the concept of TEAM. We had 11 guys and all 11 played substantial minutes. 10 of the 11 are already qualified to receive a college scholarship. Each player played a significant role in all of our success. We don’t have any 5* recruits but we have talented players that sacrificed a great deal for the betterment of the team.
Standout Performers
0-Kobe Mapp (Tilden) was the catalyst and facilitator. His ball handling a timely baskets were the difference in several big games.
2-Alex Saunders (St Laurence) missed several tournaments while advancing to state finals in Track and completing summer workouts as a football standout.
3-Javion May (Hope Academy) used his explosiveness to create easy scoring opportunities. Improved shooter used toughness to guard all 5 positions.
4-Brandon Whiteside (Glenbard South) is another playmaking guard that had several big scoring games. Sneaky athlete, discipline defender and shooter.
12-Hunter Walder (Jones) is 100%. He give you everything, every time he’s on the floor. High level shooter and above average passer with some defensive grit.
15-Braquan Echols (Butler) is a big body that is great at hedging or switching on guards in ball screen situations. He can shoot it from all over the floor at 6’6″.
21-Jamari Norwood (De La Salle) A one man fast-break and game changer. He consistently beat his initial defender to create scoring opportunities. Several losses are tied to his absence for academic obligations.
23-Austin Richie (Don Bosco) joined us for the summer after reclassifying and led team in scoring; in a variety of ways. Known as a shooter has added versatility to his game.
25-Nas Turner (Kenwood) is likely the top athlete in 2018 class. Experienced several games in which he dominated offensively and defensively; guarding top talent at any position on the floor.
30-Antwone Lampkin (Wells) should sound like an echo in conversations referencing top shooters in c/o 2018. He made big shot after big shot against major competition. Averaged four 3’s per game in July.
33-Zion Fortune (St Laurence) is a strong rebounder in traffic and outstanding shooter as a power forward.
