Class AA….A Taste
The Minnehaha Academy vs Minneapolis North battles are already being talked about. They aren’t the only top Class AA teams though. The Class AA race should be great.
AA. The Rivalry that’s getting hot right now is Caledonia vs Lake City. The guard battles of Noah King and Owen King against Marc Kjos and Nate Heise should be outstanding. But wait, there is more. Byron moving back to Class AA and having their most talented senior class in decades puts them in the race plus St. Charles had a lot of young players step up last year. They will be good too.
AA. Air Chanthark has landed at Tri City United. Researching for the new coaches I found some very interesting items on Chantark’s work with youth and love of basketball over the years at a few different places. I don’t know how much talented he will have at Tri City but I know his effort will be strong.
AA. The teams I think we need to watch out for are Fairmont and Minneota. Redwood Valley, New London-Spicer, and Morris Area are expected to have great years but the talent returning off of good teams from Fairmont and Minneota has to be something coaches are thinking of. Fairmont will be really balanced and Derek Missling has some college potential. Thomas Hennen of Minneota should have a huge year.
AA. Aaron Gill. St. Paul Prep is in this section and the explosive jumping jack is going to put up massive numbers every night for his team. The section has Minnehaha Academy and then a lot of teams going through changes. St. Agnes could be the second toughest in it but Gill will be the best player in the section not in a Redhawks uniform.
AA. Get ready for one heck of a sectional playoff run here. The talent from Minneapolis North, Brooklyn Center, Breck, Maranatha, Litchfield, Southwest Christian, and Providence Academy should make for some of the best early round playoff games in March.
AA. Clay Logan of Pine City is one of their many skilled players coming back from a 22-7 team. The focus will be on Cathedral/Annandale in the section but Pine City will be good too and one of the main guys will be Logan.
AA. Dylan DeChampeau. Remember him from Greenway High? Less than a month into his freshman year the young man showed up at the Prep Hoops Expo and had everybody talking. Last winter he had northern Minnesota talking by pushing his squad to 16-12 scoring over 21 a game.
AA. Wadena-Deer Creek is steadily getting better each year playing right around .500 but this year could be a bit different. They have everyone back from last season and Noah Ross is the lead guy making the plays. Ross can play a couple spots and stands 6-foot-1, it’s a huge year for him.
