Recruiting Report: Trevian Lane (2018)
Vermilion Catholic 6-foot-6 forward, Trevian Lane, currently checks in as Louisiana’s 62nd-ranked 2018, and has one school that has taken notice of him.
And though he may be flying a bit under the radar, he’s hoping to see his recruitment swell this coming winter during his final high school season.
“I’ve been in touch with the Northwestern State coach, and they’re looking at me a little bit. They’ll come to a game every once in awhile. I talk to one of their coaches every once in awhile, he’ll check in and see how things are going” said Lane.
“Hopefully, everything just blows up this season for recruitment. I’m most definitely interested in playing college basketball.”
A power forward with adept passing skills, Lane talked to PHLA about his style of play, and what he brings to the table.
“Mostly, I’m taller, and my passing ability is different than most big-men. I like to affect the game with passing more than anything,” said Lane.
Lane takes pride in his production on both sides of the ball, and says he’s working to diversify his skill-set.
“And defensively, shot-blocking and rebounding are my strengths. I’m trying to work on my shot, so I can help with scoring more this season,” he said.
“I’m more of a power forward, but I’m trying to stretch my game out to the three, so I can be able to do more out there.”
The crafty power forward did not play grassroots this spring and summer, instead electing to workout on his own time.
“I’ve just been working on my own, trying to get in better shape so I can make a big splash this senior year,” said Lane, who outlined his goals for this coming season.
“Our school is not really known as a basketball school. So, I’m just doing my best trying to get us to that biggest stage, the state tournament. It’s going to be tough, but I’m trying to get my whole team there.”
