Recruiting Report: Terrell Humes (2019)
Southfield A&T 6-foot-3 guard Terrell Humes has a successful 16U summer under his belt, and could be one of Michigan’s breakout players this winter.
He’s already seeing some initial interest and inquiries come in, and says one of his main goals this winter is to see his recruitment continue to rise.
“Grand Valley State has gotten in contact with me and a few smaller schools, and Wayne State too. They’ve called my assistant coach at my high school,” said Humes.
“Recruitment is always on my mind, I want that full-ride and that free scholarship. But I know I’ve got a long ways to go, so that’s one of my main goals for this season.”
After growing a couple inches and making himself a more versatile combo-guard, Humes in now ready to play point guard for the Warriors this season.
He defined his current set of skills to PHMI.
“I would say my strength is my shooting ability, and I play both sides of the ball, I take pride in my defense,” said Humes.
“I need to work on my ball-handling a lot more, but I can handle it a little bit. And I like to finish around the rim, too.”
This spring and summer he played his 16U season with new grassroots program The Elite. It came to a boil last weekend, their last tournament, when they won the Fab 48 in Las Vegas.
“It went really well, we just won the Fab 48 championship. I had a big leadership role with that team,” said Humes.
“Really, I was just working on my ball-handling because for the coming season in high school, I’m going to play point guard. And then I worked on getting my shot more consistent and being a leader on and off the floor.”
His goals for his junior season?
“This upcoming season, I plan on winning, that’s my main goal.” said Humes. “And I want to make the rest of my teammates better, and play that point guard role the right way.”
