Recruiting Report: Teon Nesbitt (2019)
Butler Prep 2019 shooting guard Teon Nesbitt is a wing that can really shoot it from three. Nesbitt ran with the Chicago Demons 16U this spring and summer on the circuit. He is the younger brother of UMKC signee Marvin Nesbitt. The younger brother is a little shorter at 6’1”, but he has good strength in his arms with some projectability. Lit it up shooting it off the catch in one of their contests we evaluated. Was streaky shooting it another eval. Clean release. Also mixes in an occasional runner, but is mostly a spot up shooter at this stage. This is a rising junior we will continue to track!
He spoke with PHI about his game.
“I am a shooter. I can attack. I am a slasher too.”
What areas is he focusing on improving in his game?
“Handling the ball more, athleticism, and being a leader.”
How was it in June playing with Butler Prep without his brother?
“It is definitely different without my brother. I think I will have a bigger role this year. I will have to be a leader and lead our team in scoring to help us win.”
He updated us on what is going on with recruiting.
“UIC, UMKC, and some others have been texting me.”
Nesbitt broke down both schools that are showing early interest in him.
UIC
“They are trying to start a new program. They have some new coaches. I love their coaches. They said they like the intensity I play with and how I can shoot the ball.”
UMKC
“They need a shooter so they are looking at me. It would be special to play with my brother in college. I didn’t get to play with him last year because I was injured.”
