Recruiting Report: Ryan Davis (2018)
Conant 2018 center Ryan Davis has secured a spot as one of the best posts in Illinois with his play for Wisconsin Playground Warriors this spring and summer. Davis is a big bodied 6’9” center that has improved his mobility and can really shoot it from deep in the pick and pop or off the catch. His rebounding has also taken a major step forward. We caught up with Davis to get an update on the #3 center in the 2018 class.
It was a very new experience playing with a Conant team with a new coach in June.
“Getting back together and having a new coach what he does is a lot of skill development. It brought all of us together.”
What was it like without all-state lead guard Jimmy Sotos who is off to college?
“It definitely noticeable. We will need some guys to step up in that position. He was such a great player and is over at Bucknell now.”
He updated where things stand with recruiting.
“Right now I am listening to new schools and trying to learn as much as I can about every school that contacts me. I feel all of the schools are keeping up with me on a pretty consistent basis. I am learning about them and all are continuing to express interest.”
Davis holds a massive offer list of Lehigh, Marist, UW-Milwaukee, Drake, SIU, Wofford, Wright State, UAB, UC Davis, Bucknell, Kent State, New Hampshire, Western Michigan, Vermont, Hofstra, Toledo, Loyola (MD), and Miami (OH). What will be looking for when evaluating these schools to separate them from each other?
“A winning culture and team that knows how to win. A team that knows how to learn from losses. Player development is huge. Being able to get better and improve. What I want to study and have a good academic school.”
He spoke with PHI about a timeline for a decision.
“I think I would like to decide before my senior year so I can just play ball.”
