Recruiting Report: Mohammed Alausa (2019)
Class of 2019 small forward Mohammed Alausa is a wing from Chicago U-High that is an athletic and physical forward. He has the potential to be a solid perimeter shoot along with his strong slashing skills. Plays with a lot of toughness and grit that should allow him to lock in on the defensive end as his career progresses. He played with Young & Reckless 16U in July. What area has he seen the most improvement in his game?
“It is coming along. I am working on my jump shot. Getting my balance better.”
His older brother Jameel was one of the top power forwards in the 2017 class who is now at Yale. The wing spoke about the adjustment his high school team had playing without the big man in June.
“It was a big difference playing without my brother because he was a big force in the paint. It is different now. Our guards are a little better. Our bigs aren’t there yet. We have to continue working. Overall June went well. We got up a couple good wins. We went up to Marquette and DePaul Camps. We will be good this year.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“In terms of recruiting I have a lot of schools looking at me and texting me. Yale and Holy Cross. Some of the other schools talking to me are Columbia, IUPUI, and Western Illinois.”
Alausa took visits in early August to Yale, Holy Cross, and Columbia.
