Recruiting Report: Karl Wright (2019)
Springfield Lanphier 2019 power forward Karl Wright is an undersized four man that is a big time athlete. He makes up for his lack of ideal height with his athleticism, activity level, and tenacity. Gets on the offensive glass for second chance opportunities and runs the floor very well.
Wright talked about his sophomore season where Lanphier made it the state final four.
“It was the best time ever for me. We moved the ball a lot and scored a lot. We all really got along so it was fun.”
With the graduation of two star seniors Wright will have to take on a much bigger role this year.
“I have to step up to the plate. It is a process. I have to rebound more and get more buckets. I have to get more hungry and get my team going.”
He relies on his athleticism a lot, but is trying to work on his skill development.
“I am improving my ball handling which got a little better and my shot has gotten a bit better too. Catch and shoot and getting stronger around the basket.”
The Illinois Irish power forward mentioned a few schools that he has heard from.
“I have heard from Drake, Bradley, Western Illinois, Tulane, and SIU-Edwardsville. I talk to Bradley. I get a lot of calls from Bradley. I talk to Western Illinois.”
