Recruiting Report: Kade Amundson (2018)
Bismarck Century got to the state championship a season ago and has legitimate aspirations to get there again. Kade Amundson is a big reason why.
Amundson, a 6-foot-7 to-be senior is one of the top players in North Dakota thanks to his ability to play both inside and out. He’s got long arms and mobility which allows him to defend at a high level and he’s got the range to defend from the 3-point line to the rim. He’s an improving offensive player as well and he’s shown he’s comfortable stepping out and shooting the ball from deep. But he’s also not just a jump shooting big man as he’s shown the propensity to hit the offensive glass and mix it up inside.
The blend of skills and upside means he’s in high demand among local college programs.
“I was on visit at [University of] Mary this past week and got an offer from them,” Amundson said. “It was a great visit. It’s nice and close and it has the degree I’m looking for. I’ll be visiting Minot State next week and Valley City in September as well.”
Amundson and high school teammate Josh Sipes have offers from a lot of the same school. They play AAU ball together with ECI Prospects. Amundson said the two would like to keep playing together.
“I think that’s a bigger deal than people realize,” Amundson said. “Package deal might not necessarily be what it is but it’s certainly a draw for both of us to maybe play together.”
Amundson played a big role for ECI Prospects which was arguably the best grassroots team in the Dakotas.
“It was really fun,” Amundson said. “We played really well as a team. To beat some high end teams without a lot of practice time. I think we played really well. It’s an incredible experience. AAU is a whole new level and experience. It’s an opportunity to get better against some great players.”
