Recruiting Report: Jordan Skipper-Brown (2017)
Former River Ridge 6-foot-5 wing Jordan Skipper-Brown will head to college soon, and is headed back to where he honed his hoops skills : Waco, Texas.
As a senior with the Hawks, Skipper-Brown averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game. He’s now headed to Waco’s McClennan Community College.
“I used to live in Texas, I started living there my sixth-grade year and moved to Washington for my junior year. So, Waco is kind of home I guess,” said Skipper-Brown.
“I had a lot of colleges looking at me, but I couldn’t do anything because of grades. I had a lot of coaches talking to me and they told me JuCo was the best route. I still wanted to play sports so I did it. And hopefully I can get a big offer after.”
He added: “I’m hoping to go D1, maybe Baylor or Arkansas, maybe even Washington.”
A high-riser who brings athleticism and leadership to the floor, Skipper-Brown defined his skill-set in his own words.
“I think one of my impacts on the floor is being a great rebounder and being a great leader too. Communicating with my team I feel like that’s one of my strong suits, and my defense too,” said Skipper-Brown, who downplayed his above-the-rim capabilities.
“It’s just normal to me, everybody else looks at me like that’s one of my strong suits. I don’t really know how to explain that though.”
He’ll be headed down to Texas on August 23rd, and is eager to get the JuCo process started.
“I haven’t really talked to my coach much,” said Skipper-Brown. “But when I get down there, I’ll start to realize my role on the team pretty quickly.”
