Recruiting Report: Jenson Beachy (2019)
Jenson Beachy led Perham to a 27-3 season as a matured sophomore leading the team in scoring. Prep Hoops caught up with Beachy this weekend.
Beachy was also a key piece of the Comets Stumpf team for much of the 16u season before summer came and other commitments came forward.
“I had a really good and fun experience with the Comets team, unfortunately I only played with them all up until July due to a lot of other commitments I had made in the summer with all of my Perham Tournaments, Football Camps, and going driving an hour and a half to go work out at Power Sanford,” Beachy said.
“With my teammates of course, they were a really special group of people and all will be successful in their futures. I will consider all of them to always be great buddies.”
What did Beachy learn about himself as a 16u player.
“My biggest take away was being able to get a consistent pull up jumper and floater in my game,” Beachy stated. “I would also take away the fact to use my athleticism and strength to help me taking it to the rim and playing hard defense.”

“I will be continuing to work on my pull up jumper and getting to the rim quickly and explosively,” Beachy said. “I will continue to get stronger in the weight room, and I will push to get more rebounds and assists next year as the season rolls around.
“I will also be pushing to continue being a team leader and striving to get the team past the section final hump.”
Perham returns Beachy, Gopher football commit Logan Richter, Martin Lafond, and Ben Winkels plus there are a lot of good young players ready to step into roles.
“We have very high goals this coming season as we return a lot of our key players and we will have a few new players that will make impacts on the team as well,” Jenson said.
“Reaching the section finals the past couple of years and not making it to the next stage has us very determined.”
At this post several local programs have called Jenson with initial interest for the next level.
“I asked coach (Dave) Cresap and this was his response: five division two schools have been in contact with me along with quite a few MIAC and NAIA schools,” Beachy said.
What basketball player has been the biggest influence in the hoops life of Jordan Beachy? A guy he has known since he was a kid.
“By far my babysitter Jordan Riewer,” Jenson said about basketball players that he considers his favorite as well as hoopers to pattern a game after.
“Jordan used to go to Staples as did I. Seeing the success he’s had so far has been inspirational to the people around the area. Also my brother’s grade, even though they were five grades older than me, they always challenged me as hard as they did everyone else.”
What’s next for Jenson? Football and hoops workouts.
“Me personally I will be waking up every morning to go shoot and work out after that, all before school,” Beachy said. “My other teammates who don’t play football will be playing in fall league.”
