Recruiting Report: Jacob Hjort (2018)
Jacob Hjort is making a name for himself. This past summer he played big time and has some big time schools looking at him as well.
Jacob is one of the most underrated guards in the state of Washington. He is long, athletic and has the ability to get his shot off at will. In some of his more recent tournament play he has shown that he can also knock down tough shots in tough situations. With an increasing skill-set and a great coaching staff at his disposal he will continue to build on his abilities.
Here is what he had to say about his summer and upcoming season.
“I played AAU with Southwest Washington Elite. I had the best summer I’ve had since playing AAU, and our team did really well. Over the summer I’ve been working out a lot with Dan Dickau who played in the NBA and played for my dad in High School, and Matt Conboy. I’ve also been playing a lot of open gym with older guys in college to get used to playing against bigger and stronger guys. I’ve been lifting and doing vertimax to get stronger and more athletic.”
“Shooting is my forteit. I am the best shooter in the state. I’ve been working on my Athleticism. I’ve been in the weight room and on the vertimax a lot getting stronger and more athletic.”
“I really like the looks of our team this year. Even though we lost three starters from last year, we have a really deep team who’s ready to fill those spots. We are going to make a run in state this year. I have the most experience on the team, being a 4 year starter, I am the leader of the team. I am going to have to score a lot and get others involved in the offense, finding them shots that they confident in making.”
“Coming into the Summer, I wanted to prove that I can control and take over a game. I thought I showed this a lot throughout the Summer circuit. Im getting recruited by UC San Diego, Concordia (Or.), Western Oregon, Saint Martins, Simon Fraser, Central Washington, San Francisco State, Whitworth, Whitman, and an offer from Life Pacific (NAIA) in California.”
