Recruiting Report: Cooper Lewis (2018)
For a few years, things have been building up for Shelbyville (IN). They have continued to develop and bring in new talent in the last four years and now, it looks like this could be the season that things start to pay off. One of those talented players they have been developing is senior guard Cooper Lewis.
Lewis, a 6’2 scoring guard, has been very consistent and productive over his career at Shelbyville. Now, he’s a senior leader and ready to take his team to another level. Along with Lewis, they also return his twin brother Sam, Zach Kuhn, and Brock Blackwell which makes up nearly all of their scoring from last season.
For Cooper, he’s really taken charge as a scoring guard with his ability to slash and drive with effectiveness. He’s not extremely tall or long and not deceptively fast, however, he is still very deceptive and creative with his ability to finish at the rim. He’s also got a jumper to pair with it and the mentality is always to score the ball.
This coming year is for him and Shelbyville where they could have an emergence. To this point, Lewis has pulled in some DIII interest with Franklin and Trine standing out early on. Lewis, who is looking into a Business or Accounting degree, could be a guy that starts to gain interest quickly this winter as his teams success could bring his skillset into the forefront.
